Tech Questions we get the most often and some answers.
1. Q: I got it setup and when I tow it seems to wander around a bit too much. A: First, check all fasteners, check tire pressures on Trailer Toad and trailer. This is usually caused by too much "lift or tension" on the WD bars. What is happening is the Toad is not carrying enough weight, causing it to want to wander (like an empty trailer). Soften the WD bar tension one chain link or one hole on Equalizer style. This will put more weight on the Toad.
2. Q: The Toad wants to "shimmy" when I first start to get up to speed or it wants to "shimmy" as I slow down. A: This is usually a worn out or broken stabilizer shock. If you have time to take one end of each shock off you can see if they "feel" the same when pushing in and out. If you are on the highway, just drop the Reverse Pins down, proceed to a safer spot to inspect it.
Personal Tech Support- cont'd.
3. Q; I found one of the stabilizer shocks is leaking or damaged what are my options? A. You can drop the Reverse Pins down to keep axle stable but it will have a small effect on handling, especially corners as the axle will skid instead of follow you. You can usually find replacement stabilizer shocks at local parts stores. The Monroe part number is - SC2928. If you have a very heavy trailer we offer a Skyjacker steering Stabilizer that has urethane bushings, larger shaft and piston and stiffer dampening. They are listed on this website and can shipped out right away.
4. Q;:How often do I need to service the wheel bearings and hubs? A: Dexter recommends every 3000 miles on the 3500HD and 6000 miles on the 5000SD. Our axles are equipped with Dexters E-Z Lube spindles. With some patience you can pop the rubber cap off the spindle cap and use a grease gun with proper wheel bearing grease to slowly push some new grease in and EZ Lube will slowly force the old grease out the front through the opening in the cap.
5. Q: If I need axle or hub parts are they available at NAPA or other auto/trailer supply stores? A: YES- the 3500HD uses a Dexter #10 axle and the 5000SD uses a Dexter #12. Very common components. We stock them as well.

Ordering your Trailer Toad; simple as 1-2-3
1. We need to decide what model of the Trailer Toad is correct for your application. When you call or email; have the description of tow vehicle, trailer, trailer weight and tongue weight (if known) and if you have or will need a weight distribution hitch. DO NOT order a Trailer Toad online. We must take all orders in person, over the phone, to assure Invoice accuracy and shipping details are correct.
2. We ship the Trailer Toads via truck Freight. It is not cheap but if you can have it shipped to a commercial address or possible a local freight terminal and you can pick it up there it will cost a lot less than Residential Delivery with a Liftgate service. We can work out frieght details in a couple calls or emails. We have about 6 Freight Carriers that seem to be reliable and pretty quick.
3. Payment: We offer as many options as we can. Bank WIre Transfer is a method with no extra processing fees, we will supply our bank information if you decide that is your preference. Company or personal checks require a few days to "clear the banking system". Credit Cards, PayPal or Venmo have no fees at this time.
